LIM projects are organized according to their technological area. A projects in a new technological area is often started pushed by technological or scientific curiosity and usually end up with the construction of a technological demonstrator, at least to give experimental evidence in the related scientific documentation.
An increasing number of LIM projects are commissioned as industrial research for product innovation and are usually aimed to build a working industrial prototype that should show both design methodologies and technological components needed for production.
